WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT:
- For the central location right near Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus
- It is nearby St James's Park for an early morning or evening stroll
- Enjoy a varied and delicious breakfast... in bed if you choose!
- Stay in a Grade II listed building and former Bank
Situated just off Regent Street and a couple of minutes walk to both Piccadilly Circus and St James’s Park, the Sofitel St James is in an ideal position to enjoy London’s shopping district and its many famous attractions. The building is the former Cox’s and King’s Bank and is Grade II listed, carefully renovated to the five star hotel it is today, with its grand entrance, smartly suited doormen and contemporary British meets French styled rooms.
Unfortunately I was in London for work but I was hoping to fit in a spot of shopping during my stay - well, it would be rude not to with so many great shops on the doorstep! I was warmly greeted at reception before being escorted up to my room, which was a Premium Luxury Room situated at the front of the hotel.
The room was a great size with a seating area, large bed and a bathroom with separate shower and bath, overlooking Waterloo Place. I particularly liked the entrance into the bedroom with Timney Fowler vintage clock and watch wallpaper, which perfectly complimented the black and white checked floor tiles in the bathroom, which led off the hallway.
After enjoying a cup of tea and a chocolate from the box left as a welcome in my room, I decided to fulfill my shopping needs and have a wander up to Regent Street. I spent the next couple of hours in and out of changing rooms desperate to buy myself something and fortunately arrived back at the hotel later that evening with a new shirt!
Whilst shopping I made a trip to good old M&S and after a nice hot shower, I popped my PJ’s on and settled in for the evening with some nibbles and the TV. It was nice to enjoy a hotel room for once rather than only use it to sleep in and I had a lovely relaxing evening and an early night.
The next morning, I was up early for work commitments but I made sure I ordered breakfast to be delivered to my room the night before. Bang on time, my own little table was wheeled into my room featuring all my requested breakfast items all laid out on a white tablecloth. I couldn’t wait to dig in and it was a delicious hotel breakfast, I just wished I could have enjoyed it more leisurely in bed rather than having to rush off to work.
I had an enjoyable stay at Sofitel St James and it is in a perfect location for exploring central London, especially for a visit to the shops of Oxford Street and for the theatre district.
